The victories of Nottingham, Yorkshire and Lancashire to-day leave the championship dependent on the lastround matches. At present Nottingham have 155 points and Yorkshire and Lancashire 148 each. Nottingham can only he deprived of winning by Derbyshire heating Nottingham outright, and Yorkshire beating Sussex outright. Lancashire has played Ats last match, so is out. of the running. SOUTH AFRICA DEFEATS SUSSEX LONDON, Aug. 29. Sussex made 239 in the match with South Africa (Laugridge. 62, Tate 55). Bell took four wickets for- 78, McMillan four for 54. South Africa won by 217 runs. Tn the second innings they made 290 (Mitchell 140, Dalton not out 44). Parks took four for 46. Sussex in the second innings made 164 (Cook 41, Bowley 37). Northants in the first innings made' 219 (Matthews 60) ; Larwood took four wticketsi for 47 runs. In the second innings they made 102; Larwood took four wickets for 37 inns and Voce took five for 21 runs. Nottingham made 305 in the first innings (Lilley 115, Walker 73). In the second innings they made 20 for no wickets. Nottingham won by ten wickets.

Somerset in the first innings made 334 runs (White 73, Case 69); Foster took four wickets for 58 runs. In the second innings they mad© 290 for eight wickets declared (Longrigg 124, Young 73). Warwick in the first innings made 129; White took four wickets for 25 runs. In the second innings they made 116 runs; Wellard took five wickets for 45 runs and White took four wickets for 42 runs. Somerset won bv 1 379 runs.

Worcester in the first Innings made 94 runs; Bowes took four wickets for 51 runs and . Dennis three wickets for four runs.
