MAWERA “ON THE AIR.”
CONCERT TO BE BROADCAST. RADIO COMPANY PROMISES CO-OPERATION. Arrangements are in train for the production of a “radio-concert” in Hawera, which will be broadcast to every quarter of the Dominion, and even further afield. Some time ago Dr. 4. McGliie, himself an enthusiastic radio amateur, made a special trip to. Wellington with the oiiject of interesting the Broadcasting Company in the project. He met with a very encouraging reception and a promise of a later communication on the subject. ■ To-day he is receipt of a letter from the cwupany’s headquarters in Christchurch stating the company will be pleased to co-operate in broadcasting a concert, in Hawcra. It is pointed out that it will be necessary to obtain the consent of the Telegraph Department to the use of a iand line from Hnwera to Wellington, but no difficulty in this connection was anticipated. ‘
Dr. McGliie is hopeful of receiving the support of the best concert performers in South Taranaki for this entertainment, the proceeds of which will bo devoted to the Hawcra Hospital Radio Fund By means of this concert Hawcra will he one of the few towns outside the four centres to “go on the. air.”
