The fact that the maritime industry is to remain in the control of the Commonwealth Government promoted representatives. of the unions concerned to formulate ai plan by which industrial! matters! can, in future, be handled amicably. The. unions agreed on a scheme * covering sectional interests, each of ’which consist of three representatives of the employers and three of the employees, with an independent chairman appointed by the council or bv the Governor-General. This plan has been submitted to the Commonwealth Government.
