OUTRAGE IN SYDNEY SUBURB. ATTEMPT TO BLOW UP TWO HOUSES. 'United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, Aug. 13. A dastardly attempt to blow up two mansions of two wealthy citizens at Darling Point to-night met with little success. The homes of Edward Resell and Lebeus Hordern were selected for destruction Both were connected with fuses running across the road. Sticks of gelignite were found in drain pipes leading to both homes. One explosion brought down the rear wall of Mr. Reseh’s home and wrecked ten winin Mr. Hordern’s opposite. The noise alarmed residents within a quarter of a mile. A man, muffled in an overcoat, was seen leaving the vicinity. No reason can be assigned for the crime. Detectives are now investigating.
