A house in the vicinity had to he evacuated bv a. man. his wife and family during the night. TRAWLER’S GREW STRIKES. 1 . AUCKLAND, July 18. With a posse of police within easy call, the trawler James Cosgravo is ready to go to sea with free labour, the crew having struck work at seven o’clock this morning as a protest against what they consider t-o be adverse conditions of employment. The strike is the result of a secret ballot taken amongst unionists of the Sanford Company’s four trawlers. The main bone of contention is regarding shore leave.
