OLD BOYS’ CRICKET CLUB.
ANNUAL BALL. The Hawera Old Boys’ Cricket Club held its annual ball last evening in the Winter Show dance hall, the function I being very successful. ■ The committee had gone to a lot of trouble in making preparations and the scheme of decorations was quite a feature of the ball. Multitudes of streamers, blue and maroon, the club’s colours, were hung from the ceiling and looped \ip to a central figure, making an effective display, while the walls, were also decorated and brilliant light-’ ing completed the scheme. A miniature cricket pitch was laid in the lower hall.
The number present was estimated at about three- hundred and fifty and in consequence the hall was well filled with dancers. These included a large number of visitors.
Supper was provided by a strong committee of ladies.
Messrs A. Walker and L. Hulbert acted as M’s.G., Messrs. V. L ‘Warner and C. Old on the doors, and good music was played by McNeill’s orchestra. The co-operation of all connected with the club served to make the ball one of the best vet hold bv the club.
