MEETING OF SOUTH TARANAKI BRANCH. A meeting of the South Taranaki branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held yesterday afternoon, at which there were present: Mesdames Carter, Cocker, Cameron, Benton, Meuli, Seed, Smitheram, Oldfield, Death and Washer and Miss O’Sullivan.

The farmers’ excursion to Invercargill, lasting a fortnight, was discussed, and it was suggested that members intending to go should send in tlieir names as soon as possible. The itinerary will be: Christchurch, Ashburton, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, Gore, and Invercargill. Hospitality is being provided by the W.D.F.U. The thanks of the division are due to those ladies who generously gave quantities of clothing for necessitous cases.

Members of the Hawera branch have decided to pay two shillings for their members’ badges. It was decided to provide an emergency list of names of those available in the district to give help in household duties. Headquarters is to be written to and asked to ascertain the reason for the delay in opening the dental clinic at Manaia.

Mrs. Seed read the report of the recent ball at Matapu for the W.D.F.U. The profits .were £lO 6s 6d. The thanks of the branch were accorded Mrs. Seed ior all her work as secretary.

A letter was received from Matron Nutsey, of Auckland, expressing appreciation of Hawera’s branch for their kindness to her and wishing them every success.

A number of other matters of a routine nature were discussed.
