FREIGHT INCREASE PROJECT

A circular which has- been sent to merchants marked private and confidential conveying a hare outline of freight increases contains the following “hush hush” paragraph marked important: “It is particularly, requested that no inforamtion be given to the Press in order that there he no fear of the Australian authorities imposing compensating duty as there has been in some cases hitherto.”
It is reported in the city that the Rt. Hon. *S. M. Bruce (Prime Minister of Australia) has cabled to the shipowners commenting most strongly on the increases.
