PATEA HOSPITAL BOARD.

THE MONTH’S WORK

There Avere -present at, the monthly meeting of the Patea Hospital Board, held yesterday, Ale sirs Honeyfield (chairman), Watson, Scown, Book, Johnson, Belton, Alexander and. Hatkins. / . The medical s-»penlitendent (Dr. Simmons) reported that 19 patients were in hospital at December I>, there were admitted p, discharged 25, leaving in hospital 21 patients. The matron reported that Nurses Coombes and AlcKinnon passed their final examination, held on December 5 and 6. Nurse Crompton resumed duty on. January 1, and Nurse Calvert is still away on sick leave. The matron reported that two donations,had been made for Christmas at the hospital—Airs H. Hodge £3 12s and Chinese Laundry £1 Is —and this had enabled the provision of better presents for the children in hospital, to buy a gramophone record, and material for decorations. The balance Avould be devoted towards getting an inA r alid couch. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Airs Hodge- and the proprietor of the Chinese Laundry. It was agreed that Nurse Coombes he- paid the salary for charge nurse as from January 1. Alessrs Back and Middleton were appointed a. visiting committee for the month.

A statement of the financial position showed that from November 1 to December 30 the receipts, were: Local authorities’ contributions for canit-al expenditure £lB4 10s 10d (subsidy of £ for £ is available on this amount), contributions from local bodies for maintenance (subsidy 14s in tbe £) £374 Is, subscriptions and donations £43 2s 6d (subsidy of £ for £ is claimed). The total receipts were thus £6Ol 15s, and subsidy will amount'to £489 10s 6d.
