DETERIORATED LANDS.
HELP TO LOCAL BODIES.
At the meeting of the- Patea Council y-esteuday a communication ivas' received from tiie Commissioner of Crown Landis, who advised that, in order to ease the position for local bodies respiting from deterioration and of farms by which adjoining ■ settlers suffered the hardship in special rating areas, a decision had been made to make money aimitable for general use in meeting these special rates on unoccupied land's jn districts under the administration of land boards. This relief wou'td- be available to county councils from- tlie department as from April 1, 1928.
