‘ (From Our Own Correspondent. I SCOUT CAAIP. AT KAUPOKONUr. The Alanaia scouts broke camp on Saturday. Commencing on January 2 they were in camp' eleven days and spent a very enjoyable time. The boys look all the better fox; living in the open, cooking and looking after themselves, and receiving- the 'benefit of swimming, reaming and games. There .were no casualties of a serious nature, and the camp was free from sickness. It is at least hoped that the many things they learned, will prove of great use and value to them. CRICKET. Playing at Alanaia on Thursday, Okaiawa defeated tlie Waioliura eleven : in a Patterson Cup match by 84 to 33 runs. With the hat, Alurdoch (42) played well for Okaiawa; and for W aiokura Whalen (18) was the only player ito secure double figures. Bowling for Okaiawa, Ramsay took six for 14 and ■Walker four for 14. For Waioliura Whalen took five for 36 and Broomfield, three for 25. Tlie fielding of both teams showed marked improvement. NEW BAND INSTRUAIENTS. Tli© Alanaia Alunicipal Band played an appreciated programme in the Rotunda on Saturday night before a large audience. Tlie new instruments from England are to arrive in Alanaia this week.* It is the intention of the band to play one night a week in different parts of the district in aid of the new instrument fund. The series will commence at Inalia next Wednesday night, when the band will visit the various farmers.
