(From Our Own Correspondent). GENERAL. , In common with the rest of Taranaki, the haymaking rush, is in full swing in the Auroa district. Th© recent rains have hampered this work considerably, but have greatly benefited the ret crops, which promise abundant green feed for the winter. A large entrv has been obtained for the Fanners’ Union root-growing; competition, and the Otakeho' Society seems - to have good support for its similar competition. In spit© of the busy period, a number of keen sports held a “working bee” to prepare the grounds! lient by Air W. Brown so that they may he .ready for the next sports meeting. The, friends of All* W. G. Bradford and family sincerely regretted the recent' loss of his mother. As a matter of respect, the Bowling Club, of which he is president, postponed their matches during the past week. BOWLING. The Auroa Bowling Club played its return match with the Warea Club atWarea on Saturday week, winning by 54- points to 41. The following are the details of the play, Auroa being mentioned' first:— _ Davies, Bigliam, Bradford, Kilpatrick 28 v. Phillips, Lewis, Bullook; Roebuck 20. Bieheno. Corey, Duff, Johnston 2G v. Goodin, Wi, Aluir, Lawn 21. The Auroa Club may possibly pfiay its final match with Kapqnga next Saturday and a keen game is expected, as both club's are in the running for the championship of the Western Division. Auroa. has met with one loss in the fixtures, while Kaponga has met with two losses and a win for Kaponga would necessitate a play-off.
