NEW ZEALAND YEAR BOOK.
CONTAINS WEALTH OF INFORMATION. The New Zealand Official Year Book for 1929, a copy of which has reached this office, fully sustains the high standard of excellence Avhich has been the feature of the A-olume during the many years in which it has -been published. Every year the scope and extent of the inforiiiation given has been widened and its practical utility increased.
A perusal shows that, although no neAV sections have been included, new matter has been added to those existing in the 1928 issue. For instance, much has been added 'to the section on roads and road transport; to the' articles included under production; to the figures relating to land settlement, a most important feature; and to public finance, highways taxation, and to the article on employment. Two sections Avdiicli are of great interest to the farming community are the one written by Dr. E. Kidson, Director of Meteorological Services, on climate, and the article devoted to agricultural production, both entirely rewritten.
A noteworthy feature is the special article written by Messrs E. J. Fawcett, M.A., and W. N. Paton, of the Department of Agriculture, containing the results of a statistical investigation by a special method into the question of live stock production in the Dominion during the past 26 seasons, based on standard values and units.
The hook contains in all 46 sections, in addition to the special articles, and a large mass of sundry information. It serves to give the curious reader or the traveller abroad an answer to practically every question put or that might he put to him at any time.
