MEETING OF ASSOCIATION

APPEALS DEALT WITH

CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 11. At a special meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association, held to consider the appeal by W. J. Moir against the action of _ the Westland Trotting Club) in dismissing a protestlodged by A. Hendriksen, driver of Moir’s horse Neeoro, which ran second at Hokitika to Young Author, for alleged interference, the association decided that the question being one of fact no appeal could lie, but in the exercise of powers conferred upon it under rule 321, referred the matter back for further consideration by the club. It was decided that Moir’s appeal fee be refunded. Freeman Holmes, after he had been charged with attempting to induce N. C. Price to commit a breach of rule 286, and in doing so was guilty ot a breach of rule 341, section 8, was fined by the New Brighton Trotting Club. He appealed against the latter decision, and the association decided that he be informed that there was no appeal, as his notice was not lodged in accordance with rules 318 and 319. It was also decided that the fee lodged bv him with the notice be refunded.

DRIVING IN RAGES. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 11. At oi meeting of the Owners’ and Breeders’ Association, the matter of team driving, as commented 1 on by several newspapers, was discussed. Members were unanimous that the assertions were without foundation. They considered that undue interference which sometimes happened in a race was due, in most eases, to minor mishaps in running for positions in a' race or lack, of experience on the drivers ’ part. Members thought, .that driving in races was as clean as in any racing in the world. A HANDICAP CORRECTED. WELLINGTON, Jan. 11. Proud Ata, in the Quality Trotters’ Handicap at the Wellington meeting, should be on 12 yards, not limit, handicap.
