WON’T ROT.

METAL-PLATING WOOD. LONDON, Jan. 4. The “Weekly Dispatch” states that Vladimir Einstein, a relative of Professor Albert Einstein, the famous scientist, of relativity fame, has invented an electrolytic process which, he claims, will revolutionise industry by enabling the metal-plating of nonconductors of electricity, such _ as wood, paper, porcelain and textiles, so that they will resist corrosion by steam, water, heat, or chemical fumes. Railway companies, motor works, and potteries are testing the invention, which the Government may adopt for use- in warships, aircraft, and other army purposes. Fine cloth, silk, and even gauze can be delicately metalled. The process can also he applied to bricks, tiles, plaster and woodwork, and will revolutionise house construction. Dinghies, punts and other water craft can he metallised and the whole rendered watertight and strong.
