(From Our Own Correspondent.) SURF CLUB DANCE. The dance held under the auspices of tiie Hurl' Club was a brilliant and nighly successful function. A feature of the evening was a number of novelty i dances which were very popular. Bartons’ orchestra dispensed excellent music. The duties of ARC. were capably carried out by Air J. Couch. SCHOOL COAIMITTEIE. On Friday last the school committee met to tiansae.t a large amount of business. aln .tln absence qf Air A. B. Muggeridge Mr H. Cornwall was voted to the chair. The teacher’s report stated that the attendance was very regular and the work was now of a high standard. Inspector Adams visited the school during the month and remarked upon the fine appearance of the grounds and the work in the nature study books. The Mascot Orchestra of four instruments, under the concluctorship of Mr S. Mills, will play for the dance to he held after the concert. The chairman, on behalf of the committee. thanked the teacher for the interest he had taken in the school and surroundings, and wished him a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. * GENERAL. The countryside is looking its best just at present. Assisted by light, warm rains, grass has made remarkable growth and hay crops are very heavy.
