Mr. PI. S. S. Kyle, M.P. (Riccartoix), visited Hawera at the week-end as the guest of Mr. H. G. Dickie, M.P.

Last Saturday’s meeting of the Eltham County Council marked to a day the tenth anniversary of Mr. A. Tiplady taking service with the council as county clerk.

Archbishops Redwood and O’Shea, Rev. Dr. Mcßae, and Dean Connolly, after officiating at the opening of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church yesterday, left by car to-day on their return to Wellington. Mr N. E. Drayton, late secretary of tlxe Egmont Box and Mrs Drayton, who have been on a visit to England, have returned to Eltham. Tlie Hon. G. M. Thomson, M.L.C., who has been spending the week-end with his son, Dr. W. M. Thomson, left by the mail train this morning for Wellington io attend a meeting of the Legislative Council during the week.

The Rev. Father O’Connor and Mr. F. de Clere, who have been in Hawera in connection with the opening of St. Joseph’s Church, left on their return to Wellington by the mail train this morning.

A Press Association message fromAuckland reports the' death of Mr. William Henry Bagnall, aged 83, who died yesterday. He migrated from Prince Edward Island, Canada, in 1864, taking six months to make tlie passage in a sailer. His father was a member of the legislature there. William was a member of the firm l of Bagnall Bros., large timber millers at Turn a. He retired in 1917, and is survived by his widow and a family of five, including the Hon. W. Garfield Bagnall, Tongan Minister of Finance.
