The Eltham Progress Committee has completed arrangements for the annual Father Christmas ' free gift effort for the children of the district. Gifts have been purchased to the extent of approximately £SO. A scheme for decorating the town and shops has also been arranged. Windows rattled, aixd outside telephone wii’es were violently agitated for fully a minute. A pedesti-ian who was leaning against a fence felt that structure shaking for a considerable time after the other manifestations of the earthquake had passed away. While the shake was at. its worst a heavy car at a standstill on the roadside, loaded with six passengers, shook violently on its springs for many seconds. No reports of damage clone to pi’operty have been received. The earthquake’ was also felt in Eltham. No serious damage was done, although some shops suffered slightly through goods falling from the shelves and from’ window brackets.
