EUCHRE AND DANCE
(From Our Own Corre.spodent.) The final of the. series, of euchre tournaments in aid of tile School Library took place in the Normanby To-wn Hall on Wednesday night, and, like its predecessors., proved a great success, there being 110 players, present. The ladies’ first prize, donated by Mr. -W. Hair, was won by Miss A. Antrobus; the second, donated by Mr. J. Duggan, was won by Mrs. W. Attwood. The men’s first prize, donated by Mr. Howe-Giles, was won by Mr. L. Jurd, after having to play-off with Mr. J. Duggan and Mr. V. Warner, who had tied with him for first place.. Jn the play-off for second prize Mr. J. Duggan proved successful. The ladies-’ consolation prize was won by Mrs. F. Atkins and. the men’s by Mr. C. Eustace.
The ladies’ points prize fgr the series, a travelling rug donated by Mr. C. J. Preston, was won by Mrs. Attwood, with 37 games ; and l the men’s points prize, a fountain pen, donated by a: lady friend, was won by Mr. J. Bryant, with 34 games. After the tournament supper was handed round and then the hall cleared' for dancing, the music being supplied by Mrs. W. Bennett. During the evening. Mr. A. E. Spratt, chairman of the School Committee, thanked one and all for their attendance and the help, they had given towards making the tournaments such a success.
