MEET AT MATAI’U. VERY, SUCCESSFUL DAY. .The. weather on Wednesday invited out or door recreation and amusement. Therefore it \va,s only as expected that the 'hunt at Mat-apm yesterday should attract many followers. A meet had been air-ranged by the kindness of Mr and Mm \Y. M. McL’Dowio ut their pretty -homestead on the Hoistings Road. Tireti2; was nothing to mar the day’s proceedings, and the horsemen euioved a couple of liour-s ol exhilarating import-. Though. there were no long runs, there- wag peaty of jumping and good inteiiesting traverses of the countryside, over the farms, of Messrs McL’Dowie. O’Sullimn, Pree-ce and Rowe, altogether a capital outing. A rendezvous vjais nwule at the homestead afterwards, and a very large company was most hospitably entertained by liost- and hostess. Dr. Simmons very ccwtliatly t-lumked their host and hostess for the opportunity of hunting at their farm and 1 included the adjoining owners in. -his appmoiation.
