RAILWAY ACCIDENTS.
REPORTED FROM QUEENSLAND. DRIVER. OF ONE TRAIN KILLED. (Uniteo. x-ress Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) Received 9.50 a.m. to-dav. BRISBANE, July 30. A sugar-cane train in the Childers district toppled off a bridge into a gully fifteen feet below. The driver, Alfred Hichman, was pinned by a leg, which was crushed. He retained consciousness for six hours while the fireman was trying to extricate him and the guard looking for medical assistance, but he died shortly after being rescued. A Maryborough ’message states that stock and goods trains collided at Croydon Junction. Several waggons were smashed- to matchwood. Nobody was hurt.
