TOKAORA SHOP DAY.
ENCOURAGING RESPONSE MADE
The committee of the Tokaora. Hall is very pleased with the response to the efforts of the ladies in the shop day held yesterday in Hawera. The committee' in attendance was comprised of a number of Tokaora. ladies under the direction of Mrs. A. Freyne. A liberal list of donations of produce and goods was received, and nil sold freely, the total takings being about £2O. .
In the sheep competition £4 was raised. The correct weight was 117£lb. The competition resulted in a tie between Mt\ G. Hesse 11 and Mr. H. Rudkin, both making the correct estimate. Two others were a. quarter of a nound out. \
The weight of. the cake was 61b, and Trixie Francis’s estimate was correct and She won the. cake. Mr. IT. Bentley was one ounce more. The, committee gratefully acknowledge the help given hv many friends, which was of great assistance to them.
