METHODIST CHURCH.
CIRCUIT QUARTERLY MEETING. There was -a a'ang© arttenduaicie of offends at the quarterly meeting of the Hiawera circuit of tlip- Methodist' Church, which, was field on Wednesday evening. .The Rev. E. S. Ermmitt occupied bn© chair. At the conclusion of the devotional session, routine business wais proceeded with, and various phases of the. active service of the church in its individual departments' were discussed. Mr F. A. Bates presented the financial ..statement, which, owing to special expenditure incident to t!he renovations to parsonage property, etc., '.showed a deficit for this quarter. The balancesheet was adopfcd. Mr Kenyon reported most cheerfully concerning the Foreign Mission income, returns of which were not quite completed, hut would bo finalised alt the end of August. Special coVections authorised during the incoming quarter were in eoanection with the Ilawera. -and Noirmanby Church anniversary services. Airs Kenyon and Miss D. Bates were received a>s representatives of the .Sunday School Committee. Mr E. Yearbnry reported isatisfadtorily concerning S.'S. and Y.P. work for -Hawera. Mr Hnrrell for Nornianhy, and Miss Hill for Ohangai presented similar reports.Appreciative reference was made to Ali- Arch bold’s willing -service in ail’-, ranoing for the conveyance of the used folk each Sunday to the morning service. , P The meeting passd a vote of congratulation: to the choir and Mr Fox on their -.success in the recent competition. The chairman. Miss Sheet and Mr Bates were apnointed to represent the church on the local Prohibition Council..
