ENTERTAINMENTS.

OPERA HOUSE —TO-NIGHT. FINAL SCREENING OF “ROUGH RIDERS.” Human and rollicking in places, grimly affecting in others, blendu „ finely all the essences of love, struggle, bravery, humour, patiios and death, “The Rough Riders” .at its opening last night won the highest appreciation of a capacity audience at the Opera House. “The Rough Rulers can trulv be said to set a standard. I one if the few films which deserve the adjeotive great, and which add immeasurably to the progress of the motion picture. One can say that Paramount has made a story with a love theme with Alary Astor Charles Farrell and Charles Emmett Macks winding like a glowing thread throughout the drama, and that the difficult sequences of the blowing up of the Maine, the gathering ol the Rough Riders, their fierce courage in the hail of Spanish lead, and the dominant figure of T.R. alive every moment, contribute to art and express history. Lively, wholesome . and exhilarating is the two-reel Junior Jewel production, ‘‘The Collegians,” ' which was the added attraction on the programme last evening. The programme will be finally screened to-night.

GRAN D THEATRE—TO-NIGHT. “A WOMAN ON TRIAL.” Pol a Nigri plays her first mother role in a long and brilliant carper on the screen in “The Woman on Trial,” which will be finally screened at the Grand Theatre to-night. The vampish creature of other Negri starring pictures is missing in her latest Paramount effort. Instead, she portrays a wistful, sympathetic character, that of a woman who sacrifices her own love life to wecl a man of wealth. “The Woman on Trial” shows Pola as a woman who lives only for her child, never dreaming that happiness with the man she really loves is to be hers some day. .There is an excellent supporting programme, which includes cartoon, comedy, scenic, and two newsreels.
