TWO-SEATER CAR MISSING. (By Telegrapn—Press Association ) CARTERTON, July 4. A two-seater ear belonging to Bert Jackson was commandeered by joyriders late last niglit. The ear was left in the street while its owner transacted business prior to leaving town. When he returned the ear liad disappeared. The police have the matter in hand. This is the first case to occur in Carterton for a very long time. BONELESS VEAL. ■PAHIATUA, July-4. TROUT AT TAUPO. WELLINGTON, July 4. Some comment during last fishing season that there was not the number of trout at Lake Tanpo as in previous years is not substantiated by an interesting return furnished to Sir Maui Pom-are, ■acting-Minister of Internal Affairs. The return shows the number of trout smoked- at Tanpo as follows: 1923-24. 640; 1924-25, 1000 f 1925-26, 1316; 1926-27, 1317; 1927-28, 2312. “If proof of the pudding is in the eating,” Lsaid the Minister, “so might it he said, at least to some extent, that the number of trout smoked is a relative indication of the total number taken.”
