The date of the next Timairu-Chris't-chureli road race ha® been fixed for October 6, pray feted that that date' is free from big football fixture®. POLICE ALLEGE INCENDIARISM. CHRISTCHURCH, June 16. The police report that a deliberate attempt wasi made to burn down a building used as an auction room in Good Street, in Rangiora, on Thursday evening. A heap of inflamable rubbish had bpen placed at the rear of the building and was ignited. When the blaze was discovered the wall was burn t through and! 'the flames were spreading. A police constable and a passer-by extinguished the flames with sacks. Thrqe weeks ago an attempt Was made to burn down the auction yards in the same town owned by the Farmers’ Co-op. T.B. COMMISSION. PALMERSTON N., June 15. The committee' appointed by the Government to investigate the treatment of consumptives visited’ Palmerston North to-day, taking evidence at the' hospital and later leaving for Waipukurau.
