(From Otar Own'Correspondent.) FAREWELL TO RESIDENTS. On Tuesday evening in the hall! a farewell social was tendered to Mr and Mrs Donald on the e.ve of their leaving the district where they have lived for some yeans and have been popular settlers. In the euchre the prizes were won by Mrs Guy and Mr P. Austin. Later a presentation of, a set of cutlery was made to the guests of the evening, by Mr W. A. Guy, who expressed the great iregret felt by all at losing their guests from the district and wished them all success in the future. On Wednesday afternoon a gathering of ladies was held in the hall, when opportunity was taken to farewell Mrs Donald and Miss Bootten. The Donald family are leaving, for the Waikato and Miss Bootten for New Plymouth. An excellent speech of appreciation was miade by Alins W. E. Garter, president of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, who, on behalf of the ladies of the district, made presentations to both and wished the departing guests the greatest good fortune in their new homes and expressed the hope that prosperity and happiness would be their lot in the future. Both ladies made brief and suitable replies. A Aloraced handbag was given to Alr,s Donald and a manicure set to Aliss Bootten. During the afternoon songs were" given by Aliss Reid, Mrs Seed and Alns Clarter and all were much enjoyed. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies and a: happy function then camel nde'd.
