ANNUAL MEETING

There were present at the annual meeting of. the El thorn Bowling Club, held on Thursday evening: Messrs J. D: McKay (ih; the chair), A. H. Best, LA. O. Casey,;F. Fallows, W. Clarke- J. Judd, T. AlcQueen, F. Climow, J. .Phillips, R. Gooding, A. R. Gower, Al. T.: C. Staiihefs, T. Fouiitaine. A- Tiplady, F. Vincent, and D. L. A,. Astbury (hon. .secretary). •.Tile report showed that there was a decline in membprshp from the year 1924-25, in which year the club had 46 members'. The number had gradually shrunk until at the present ■ time there were only 3,7. members. The figures for 1925-26 were 44, and for 1926-27, 39. ,

Banner ! matches were contested and many friendly games played with neighbouring clubs through the season. Daring the early part of the season •Mr Barker was appointed- caretaker of the green and had given every satisfaction under the careful supervision of the green steward' (Air T. C. Stannens). BALANCE-SHEET. The balance-sheet disclosed & debit of £5 15s; receipts totalling £157 16s and ■expenditure £163 Us\ Receipts included the sum of £lO7 5s for members’ (subscriptions. Tire chief items of expenditure were: Labour £64 19s, rates and 'insurance £l9 IBs 2d, and interest ; £l9 Is 6d. The statement further showed liabilities . totalling £421 13s 6d (mortgage £250, debentures £153), and assets £545 7s 6 cl—a baance of £123 14s on the right side. ; The report and balance-sheet were adopted, and the secretary was freely eulogised' for his painstaking! work, as shown in the wealth of detail embodied in the istatements submitted to members.
