(From Our Own Correspondent.) PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr. and Mrs. Harrop and family leave to-day to take up their residence in the Qpunake district. Miss Rewes lias been appointed relieving assistant at the Oeo school, and arrived on Monday last to take up her duties. Mr. and Mrs. Hayns are at present spending their annual holiday in Wellington. FOOTBALL. A game was arranged between the Oeo-Pihama combined school teams and Auroa for Thursday. The visitors, however, forfeited by default. A seven-a-side match was played, afternoon tea being supplied to the hoys after the game. SOCIAL. A very pleasant evening was spent in the hall on Thursday evening, when the people of the district met to say farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Harrop and family. Dancing, interspersed with musical items, was the order of the ‘evening. Mr. Hughes, as chairman of the committee responsible for the entertainment, and as the oldest resident present, made a short speech, and presented Mr. and Mrs. Harrop with a travelling rug on behalf of the residents. Mr. Ross, on behalf of the school committee, of which Mr. Harrop has always been an enthusiastic member, also spoke a few words. Mr. Harrop suitably responded. > The performers were : Songs, Mr. and Mrs. Tomplison, Miss Bevan; recitations, Mrs. Tomplison and Mr, Knight. The music for the dancing was supplied by the 'Maori string orchestra and was much appreciated. Extras were played by the Swiss trio, accompanied by Mrs. Hughes. These gentlemen also gave a performance of acebrdeon playing. Messrs’ Rev,, Hughes and Mowat acted as M.C.’s. The supper arrangements were under the control of the ladies’ committee.
