TARANAKI RUGBY UNION.

MEETING OP MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. , The management committee Of the Taranaki Rugby Union met at Stratford on Thursday night, when there were present: Messrs. Jhs. MeLe'od (chairman), A. P. Neilson, W. H. Moyes, It. Masters, L. J. Purrie, J. . Paterson, J Goodwin, W. A. Guy, J. Garcia, E. H. Young Ctreasurer), and S. E. Neilsen secretary). Eltham and Inglewood each applied for representative matches. It was resolved to reply that it was impossible to arrange matches for those centres this season. WANG ANUT-TARANAKI MATCHES. The chairman stated that .when in Wanganui a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs. W. A. Guy, S. E. Neilson apd himself, had discussed the question of some reciprocity in connection with the match on June 3, which had been played for several years at Wanganui. Three alternatives had been suggested, namely, that .the ' match should be played alternatively at Wan. ganui and Taranaki; that A land B games .should be played alternately in Wanganui and Taranaki on June 3, to be returned later in the year; and that the A match should be played in Wanganui on June 3 each year, a B team to visit Taranaki on the same date each year, together with a Wanganui Technical College team. It had finally been decided that the Taranaki Rugby Union should submit proposals .which Would be considered by the Wanganui Union. It whs further isuggeste'd that the whole four gates should be pooled and that concessions might be made to Wanganui regarding the gate percentage. Taranaki Would be prepared to send their A team to Wanganui next year.

Members generally considered that Taranaki had to consider its financial position, and on the motion of Messrs. A. P. Neilsen and R. Masters it was resolved to propose to the Wanganui Union that return A and B matches be' played between the provinces, the A match alternately at New Plymouth and Wanganui. A conference would /be held later between the unions.

INSURANCE OP PLAYERS. The sub-committee comprising Messrs.. E. 11. Young, E. Masters and R. R. Tyrer submitted a report in connection with the proposal to build up a fund to assist players with their medical expenses, etc., When injured. It was decided at the annual meeting that 10 per cent, from club gates and 5 per icent. from representative gates be set aside for that purpose, and the committee suggested that in order to build up the fund quickly clubs should 'be asked to subscribe £5 for each senior team, £3 for a- junior team, £2 for a second junior team and £1 for a third junior team. The isub-committee considered .that this would result in a total of £SOO being raised in the first year, and that it would result in a strong insurance fund ultimately being built up. Consideration of the recommendations was deferred. PLAYERS REPORTED. Iv. Campbell (Old .Boys) and R. Atkinson (Inglewood), who had been ordered off by the referee for fighting, wore ordered to stand down for four playing .Saturdays. J. Thompson (Okaiawa) and Lifchwark (Kaponga), who were reported for threatening behaviour in the course of a junior match were warned and ordered to stand down for a 'week.

A Stratford Technical High .School boy, Who had been ordered off the field during the progress of a match with Inglewood school, was warned and stood down for a week. It 'was stated that- this was the first 'occasion in fifteen years that a Stratford High School b'oy had been ordered off. P. Pokare, a Wednesday player, for striking another player, was .suspended for a week.

The following seniors were reinstated as juniors: B. Hughes (OkaiaWa), F. Spooner (Patea), and J. Roper (Stratford). The Okaiawa club applied for a transfer for Rangi Rum from .Waimate to Okaiawa, the -Waiinat-e club havingagreed to the-transfer. —Confirlned.
