NEW BOOKS .RECEIVED

The work of rendering t-lie Hawera Library more attractive to subscribers is progressing rapidly. Since the beginning of the- present month over 380* novels have been purchased, and 150 of these arrived to-day. Alany favourite authors are to be found in the new selection, which includes works by Louise -lordan Alilne, James B. Hendrvx, Edgar Wallace, Lord- Frederic Hamilton, Aire. Henry Dudency, Sir Philip Gibbs, Marie Conway Oemler, Frank L. Packard, Horace Vac-hell, Jefferv Farnol. Savi, J. E. Buck rose, Max ‘Brand. F. R, Buckley, Roland Pertwee. Alary Roberts Rinehart. Compton Mackenzie, H. de A T ere Staepoole, and many others. Orders have been sent forward for a number of new publications, which are expected to arrive in New Zealand shortly. Readers who have appreciated' H. Guthrie Smith’s book “Tutira” will be glad to learn thatthe new edition of his “Birds of the Water. Wood and AA’aiste” will soon he available.
