(From Our Own Correspondent.) HALL SOCIETY MEETING. The annual meeting or the Auroa Hall Society was held at the hall on Saturday eiening, Mr. A. F'. Kruse presiding. The balance sheet was presented by the secretary, Mi\ \Y. Martin. After a successful gear’s working and numerous repairs and improvements k.eing effected the credit shown was 4s 7d. This reflected great credit upon the outgoing officers and committee as the public do not seem to take a sufficient interest in the wel.are of their lniil. The election of officers and committee for the ensuing year resulted as follows: Chairman, Mr. H. H. Buxton ; secretary and treasurer, Mr. H. vVood; committee, Messrs. T. if lair, T. Austin, Y. Sheerin, A. F. Kruse, W'm. C. Biclieno, (L Bigham, and M\ Martin. ft- was decided to call tenders for painting the hall and Mr. A. T. Kruse and the chairman to draw out specifications, and attention to the lighting system, r*:of and plumbing generally was left to Mr. Kruse. Permission was granted to the school committee to remove part of the hedge encroaching football field and the musical society was permitted to house a music cabinet in the supper room. The meeting concluded with votes of thanks tu the outgoing committee especially Mr. A. F. Kruse and \Y. Martin for their efforts on behalf oi the hall during the past year. PUBLIC LIBRARY. A fairly well attended meeting of subscribers was held in the school100m on Saturday evening. ..Mr. A. L C'andxord was elected chairman. Mr. W. C. Biclieno, secretary, Mr. T. Boss, treasurer, and Mrs. 11. H. Buxton librarian. The following were elected to the committee: Mesdames J. C. Duff, H. CL Kirk, A. F. Brown, and Miss Bradford. The balance sheet showed a credit of about £T2 and the secretary and librarian were empowered to obtain 80 looks for the \ear; 40 at once and twenty each quarter. It was decided to dispense with some Of the magazines ior the remainder of the year. It was also decided to endeavour to ‘awaken more interest in the library hv holding a tug-of-war and lazy-stick contest as s.on as possible to put the :uncls of the library on a better footing. Messrs. SandforJ, Boss and Bi heno were appointed convenors of a meeting for this purpose. Mt; S J CAL S'HCI FT Y. Fast Monday evening was booked for the initial start with the new revue. The programme and scena are completed and an early start for the production is to lie made as -Monday’s practice was postponed owing to stormy weather.
