KALAUGHER MAY BE ADDED. SCHEME FOR FUTURE FINANCE. [BY TELEGKAPIi —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, May 15. When the question of adding Kalauglier, now at Oxford, to the New Zealand Olympic team came up at tonight’s meeting of the New Zealand Olympic Council, Mr. J. W. Heennn said it had been reported that Kalauglier was doing 48 feet in the hop, step and jump event, and if this was so lie would have a good cliance of reaching the final six.,, He is to be given a try-out with a view to being added to the team. Ihe suggestion was also made that the rowing team, as selected should be given the 1928 Olympic badge. The chairman Mr. A. Bayfield) stated that the team would have been sent had it not been for the financial hurdle, and the members of it should be given the badge, since they had been selected as an Olympic team. (The badge is a fern leaf and the words: “New Zealand Olympic Team, 1928’-’). It was decided to grant the badges to the ten rowers selected. The question of collecting funds to send a team to the Olympic Games which will be held at Los Angeles in 1932 was discussed. Mr. Heenan said that if each athlete in tlie Dominion. would give one penny a week and 6d at Christmas till the next Olympic Games there would be no need to appeal to the public for finance. Under this scheme a rowing eight could he sent easily, because the rowers themselves would collect £3OOO. Mi*. H. A. Austed said the Athletic Association could then come along with the nominations and say : “Here is the team and here is the money to pay for it,” instead of bringing the names of the team and leaving the Olympic Association to find the finances. It was decided to set up a sub-com-mittee consisting of Messrs. Austed, Bayfield, Coif a, and Heenan to consider the matter and report to the next meeting of the council
