SOUTH TARANAKI’S EFFORT.
The results of <the appeal on Anzac Day for help by the sale of poppies, organised bv the members of the \\ omen s National Reserve and other helpers ai ; l over the district, were put .before a meeting of the special committee of the Returned Soldiers’ Association last night at a special meeting, at which Air At. C. Crighton presided l . There were present: Alessrs !Af. R. Jones and S. Ataislin. an apology being -received! from Air S. R. \ T eitch. The returns showed that a total isiim of £lsl 15s wsis raised in South Tairanaki, representing sales of 3011 poppies of a: + otal of 3200 issued. This, it was stated n.t the meeting, wais a, record for South Taranaki, and beat the previous best bv no less than £29. The ’ details from the several) 'areas 1 were: Hawera- (Women’s: Nation a l . Re-c-ervel £B6 7s 2d; Rangers, £8 19s 6dl; Otnk-oho and Mannia (Air AV. H. Ceded!) £ll 5s Rd • Karvnni. £1 17s ; Okaaawa, £3 9s• Eraser Road. £1 2s: Tokaora,, 1U: KeWamea. £3 4si; Kaponga. £10; El them (AV. Ricketts). £l7 14s; Alatpu, £3 19s • Alanutahi £2 7s , the total 'being £lsl 15° 4d. . T 1 „„ The sale of pennies was actually £l5O 11s. and extra donations £1 4s 4d. The disbursements will be: (3d per oonnv), £37 12s 9d; S.T.R-.S.A. (id per -noppv for expenses) £3 2s 9d; bnlnnro for the soeeial effort, £llO 19s lOd. The cost®' will just be met -by the amount allowed. It was resolved to pav the amounts +« the trustees and the N.Z. Returned Soldiers’ Association. . .
