ELECTION OF OFFICERS. PRESENTATION TO SECRETARY. The election of officers, deferred at tbe annual general meeting of the Hawera Miniature Rifle Club, was completed at an extraordinary general meeting held in the borough Council i Chambers last evening. The retiring president (Mr. P. O. Veale), who occupied the chair, explained that the election of officers had been deterred at the annual meeting, pending tlie result of inquiries to be made concerning future activities, it being necessary to secure new premises for a range consequent upon the destruction by fire of the building formerly occupied. Since the meeting arrangements had been made for the use of j suitable premises in Princes Street, and the sanction of the civic authorities for the erection or a range had been obtained. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Dr. F. Ruist (reelected) ; president, Mr. P. O. Veale (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mr. E. J. Booth, Mrs. S. R. Veitch; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. G. C. Harding; auditor, Mr. B. Smort (re-elect-ed); committee, Mrs. P. O. Veale, M iss T. Ingram, Messrs P. Peterson, j L/. Uttinger, and A. R. Elgar.

It was decided that assemblies for range shooting be liekl twice, a week, on Tuesday and Friday evenings as previously, decision as to the opening date being left to the committee according to the time required to complete the range construction. Subscription was fixed in accordance with the scale previously agreed upon, men ss, ladies 3s, and juniors 2s 6d. Mesdames F. Rae and G. C. Harding were appointed as a sub-committee to make preliminary arrangements for the euchre party which the annual meeting had recommended he held early in the season. “The thanks of the club are due to Mi ss Ingram for the ability'" and enthusiasm she lias shown in attending to the exacting duties demanded of the secretary and treasurer,” said the president in referring to the work carried out for several seasons by the retiring secretary, Miss T. Ingram. A vote of thanks to Miss Ingram was carried with acclamation, and as further evidence of appreciation she was presented with a leather travelling case. ■ Votes of of thanks were also accorded to all officers who had acted during the year.
