HAWERA TRACK NOTES

(By “Limited.”) The Haw era horses which competed at Bulls returned yesterday. Trainers reported the going as being particularly hard, but none of the horses suffered serious inconvenience. The tracks on the local course are again hard and dry, and rain will be welcomed by both horses and trainers. The bulk of the horses this morning were restricted to pace work, very little fast galloping being indulged in. C. Jackson gave Benzora a couple of rounds at half-pace, his first work since Opunake. He is in great form and was eager to increase the pace. Vivo looked us if her racing had improved her. A good constitutioned mare, she stands up to her racing m a remarkable manner, Partaga has fined down a little, and looks more fit to run the race of his life than ever previously. J. Brown gave his pair, Silver Buie and Silvermine, a sprint over hadf-a-niile, the pair finishing together m 491-osec. Bisox worked a couple of rounds, finishing her last half-mile in 50 l-ssec. San Fera and Glengariff were given strong pace work. Beremoana, alone, ran his half-mile in 49 4-sseo. without being bustled. Barryanda did easy work, and Lady Desmond finished up her work by running the last two furlongs smartly. Bright Glow was out doing easy exercise and looks well after her trip. Her trainer informed me that she did better on this trip than previously, and that the travelling-had greatly benefited her A* number of two-year-olds did useful tasks, among, them Egeria, Black Odin, and Coolmint. The next racing to interest locals will he at Easter, and weights for Feilcling and Auckland are being awaitHnwera horses were very successful at the Bangitikei meeting, annexing several events. C. Jackson .won a double on the first day with Vivo and Partaga. On the second day Vivo ran third and Partaga second in their respective events. J. Fryer also won two events, with Mendip and Eka, the former being unlucky to get beaten into second place on the concluding day. Boval, Acre, in B. Brough’s stable, ran two good races, being placed second each time; and the Gasbag gelding Gasnapper in M. Conway’s charge ran into a place, being third m the Bangitoto Hack Handicap to Aropeta and Boyal Acre. Lady Desmond ran a creditable race under her big weight, and the outing will benefit her in view of her Easter engagements.
