KING BALBOA WINS THE CUP

DUNEDIN, March 23. Tiie autumn meeting ot the Oamaru Jockey Club was held at Wingatui today in dull but warm weather, and on a track in excellent order. The totalisator handled £14,112, compared with £8931 for seven races at Oamaru on the first day last year. Results : Autumn Hurdles, one mile and a half. —2 Hard Prince (J. Cooper) 1, 1 Red Heather (Mackie) 2, 4 Beauty Light (Kerr) 3. Also started: 3 Coastguard, 5 Scion. The first two were always in front and Hard Prince won hv five lengths, with the same distance between second and third, lime, 2.46. Novice Stakes, five furlongs —1 Dumblane (B. Brodie) 1, 7 Meadow Lark (A. Ellis) 2, 4 Wine Tray (Powell) 3. Also started: 13 Bowline, 8 Busy Lad, 9 Hildreth, 12 Koremata, 6 Little Duchess, 10 Narrative, 5 Miss Marco, 2 Tardy, 11 Artistic 14 Killorna, 3 Some Signal. Won by a long neck, with a short neck between second and third Some Signal was fourth. Time, 1.34-5.
