WOMAN FOUND HANGING

AUCKLAND, March 19. William Alfred Robert Fussell, aged 29, a prisoner who escaped while undergoing hospital treatment at Christchurch a year ago, was recaptured at Auckland on Saturday. James Plieloung, a labourer, aged 44, . a married man, while cycling yesterday was knocked down by a motorcar and received head injuries. He was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious condition and died this morning. SERIOUS MOTOR ACCIDENT. - ■ ROTORUA, March 19. A car driven by Mir. Andrew Connor, a farmer at Putaruru, which was also occupied by Mr. Heckt, of Mangatapu, and two others, became uncontrollable at a turn on the Arapuni Road, a. mile from Putaruru. The car struck the wire fence, turning a. complete somersault twice. Of the other occupants, Herbert Barnett received severe shoulder injuries and, a boy was thrown clear and was uninjured. ,Tlie first two named were taken to King George the Fifth Hospital, where they were received after 10 p.m. The latest advice states that they are shill unconscious, and their condition is serious. The deceased had been ordered by a doctor to remain in bed for a month, owing to heart trouble, but remained only a fortnight and set out on a bicycle for Ashburton.
