CHINESE PARTNERSHIP.
FOR, CARRYING ON ILLEGAL GAME APPEAL ALLOAYED. [by TErmonArn— press association.] AVELLINGITON, March 19. The Court of Appeal, consisting of Sir Charles Skerrett, Justices Sim, ATacgregor and Adams, is hearing the case Public Trustee versus Jxvwe King. The respondent lodged proof against the estate of George Ghee, a Chinese merchant, for £539, money alleged to hi? owing to him on a .partnership for carrying on an illegal game of fail,tan. The' .claim was supported by the deceased's books, which showed that this sum was owing to King. The Public Trustee, finding the estate insufficient to meet the liabilities, rejected the proof,' but lost the case in thp lower court ,and he has now appealed. Mr Mvers, K.C., and with him Mr Johnstone, appeared for the appellant, •and Afr Donnelly, and with him Mr Long, for respondent-. The Court of Appeal concluded the hearing of the case Public Trustee v. Lowe King this morning. The appeal was allowed.
