REQUESTS OF DEPUTATION.
COMPENSATION FOR >OARDS. POWER BOARD AREAS. Messrs. J. B. Murdoch, E. Long, and C. Belcher constitute a deputation' which is proceeding to Wellington to-day to meet the Prime Minister and the Minister of Pu blic W orks tomorrow anti to make represent at ions in regard to compensation for roads constructed up to the standard before the Highways Board came into existence. Incidentally the deputation will bring up the question of allocation of petrol tax- as affecting the extra roads brought under the jurisdiction of the Highway® Board. It also will make representations to tho Ministers regarding the inadequacy of allowances for travelling expenses for members. of conuty councils. Under an Order-in-Council regulations gazetted in December last provide for lOd per horn-, ■subject to restrictive conditions which may obliterate the allowance altogether. This is regarded as farcical. Mr. J. S. Connett, also a member of the deputation, may join up at Wellington. AREA OF SOUTH TARANAKI POWER BOARD. Another deputation proceeding to Wellington to meet the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates and the Minister of Public Works consists 1 of Messrs. James Gibbs (chairman of the Patea County Council), C. R. Honeyfield, S. Scown, A. B. Muggeridge, Watts . and W. Back, for the purpose of supporting a request that the northern portion of the Patea Countv be excluded from the {South Taranaki Power Board area and included in the Wanganui-Rangi-tikei area. Both deputations will be introduced by Mr. H. G. Dickie, M.P.
