Mr. F. G. Coleman left Hawera on Saturday to spend a holiday in Wellington. In the Stratford Amateur Operatic Society’s production of “The Arcadians,” Mrs. Macßeth and Mr. A. Grav, of Hawera, are lending assistance, taking the parts of Mrs. Smith and Sir George Paddock respectively. Mr Len Hooker, junr., wireless officer and purser of tlie Government steamer Maui Poniare, cabled his father, Mr L.. 0. Hooker, Hawera, on Saturday', stating that he was sailing by' the vessel for New Zealand at 10 a.m. that day.
C-u .the eve of his severing his connection with Messrs. Bennett and Sutton to take up business on his own account, Mr. R. L. Ferguson was met by Ills fellow employees qii Friday and presented with a set of tools. In making the presentation, Mr. F. Chadwick referred to the cordial relations that had existed between Mr. Ferguson and the other -members of the staff during his 10 years with the firm.
