TENDERS FOR LOCOMOTIVES COSTING HALE A MILLION. FOR AFRICAN RAILWAYS. BV CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—OOP TRIG HT. Received .9.30 a.m. to-day. CAPETOWN, Dec. 20. The- Johannesburg railway administration lias accepted German tenders for the supply or ninety locomotives, casting £560,213. Tenders were received from Britain, America, Germany and Italy.
The technical advisers recommended the Alin is ter of Railways to accept the German tenders ,after giving the tidiest consideration to the various proposals .submitted, also taking into account the various conditions governing the respective tenders, the quality of material and workmanship.
