Following on the receipt of an anonymous letter, the police to-day arrested William Beaton on a charge of murdering a man named Stratton at La Perou.se in July, 1913. Strattons’ death caused a -sensation, the body being found with a bullet wound in the back a number of hours alter death had occurred. PARIS, Dec. 18. Captain and Mrs. Bruce finished 15,060 milse at Monthery in 22() hours 32 minutes 54 seconds, averaging 68 miles per hour. The previous best time was Miss Violet C'ordery’s 268 hours 58 minutes 27 seconds, an a\ erage of boil miles per hour. NEW YORK, Dec. 19. A small group of industrial corporations will be declaring before Christmas an extra dividend, estimated at 400,000,000 dollars, which will be distributed among approximately 5,000,030 holders of common and preferred stock. Tlie General Motors Corporation, with -570,000 stockholders, is distributing 43,500,000 dollars, and the Dupont Corporation, with 14,000, will pay out 11,312,000 dollars. MOSCOW, Dec. 19.

The terms of the congress of the Communist Party to the Oppositionists were that applications for reinstatement should be accepted by the Central Committee and the Central Control Commission, subject to their being made individually, and that admission be permitted in six months’ time, provided applicants’ activities in the meantme conform to their own pledges ancl party’s decisions. Trotsky presumably has not applied /for reinstatement.
