HAWERA PARK CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the Hawera Park Croquet Club wqsi held at the Borough Chambers yesterday afternoon, ,Mrs T. Tait presiding. The annual report, presented by the secretary, Mrs J. AY. Harding, reported tlifi termination of another successful croquet .season. Six new member® had joined the club at the beginning of the season, increasing thei total membership to. 20, all of whom had been very keen and enthusiastic. Some of the junior players were .showing great promise for the future. The newly-formed South Taranaki Croquet Association showed indications of being of, great benefit to all players in the district, as no doubt inter-club matches and tournaments in Hawera would he arranged. During the year the club had entered three teams for the Campbell alid McL’Dowie cups, hut wa® not suceessfu 1 . The handicap doubles and singles were won respectively by Mrs Chadwick and Miss. Tait and Mrs Harding. The gold and silver button competitions proved very interesting for all players,' .and the club wished to thank the donors, Mtis A. Murdoch and Mrs Godfrey, for their generous gifts. A deputation from the club waited upon the Park Bowling Club with a view to* arranging for the use of a better croquet lawn, and was sympathetically received.
