AUSTRALIA v.SINGAPORE. BY CABLE-PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT. Received 11.5 a.m. to-day. SINGAPORE, May 31. Australia in the first innings made 281 (Oldfield not out 101). Retnam took three wickets for 25,. Singapore made 33 for two wickets.—Aus. Press Assn, and “Sun.” COACH FOR NEW PLYMOUTH SCHOOLS. S UPPORT~PROMISED. A proposal is being considered to secure a cricket coach for New Plymouth schools, primary and secondary, and recently a move was made by the Northern Association to .secure help from the committees. The president (Mr T. H. Bates) waited on the committee at Fitzroy at the last meeting, and after some discussion that committee decided to vote £5 5s towards the project. A suggestion was also made that a member of the Headmasters’ Association be appointed to represent the schools on the association, and that not less than two hours be devoted each week to each school.
