ALLEGED TO BE FIFTH G OSPEL. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT LONDON, Jan. 26. The Gazette’s Rome correspondent states that a manuscript alleged to be tne new gospel has been discovered in the township of Cerignola, tliougn Experts are of the opinion that it is worthless. Otters to purchase the document are pouring in, and include a rumoured bid of £400,000 from Mr. Henry Ford.

The Rome correspondent of The Times says the alleged fifth gospel discovery is fast developing into a mystery story. He says that a letter by Signor Gardella to the local newspaper, declaring that the gospel is a .orgery, was written in order to arouse a religious controversy on the nature of Christ, 'with, a view to assisting the sale of his new “Romance on the Life or Christ.”

Signor Mottia, the owner of the Gospel, adheres to the story that the writer received the document as compensation for services rendered to the wandering Jew upon Monte Gargano, where the Archangel Michael briefly &ojournev among men.
