TO ASSIST THE BAND.
MUSICAL SOCIETIES CONFER. ENTERTAINMENT ARRANGED. A meeting of delegates representing the Ilawera musical societies was held last evening with the object of formulating a scheme for the purpose of raising funds to assist the Hawera Municipal Band in financing the trip to the Wellington contest in February. Mr E. Dixon presided. The meeting was very enthusiastic and all present undertook to do all possible to further the. project. It was decided to arrange an entertainment in the Opera House on Friday, February IS, and. an attractive programme is being drawn up. The following* committee was appointed: Mr Woolletts (Operatic Societv), Mr D. Strachan (Savage Club), Mr 11. N. Lester (Band), Mr A. Barley (Orchestral Society), Mr W. Westwood (Male Choir), Mr W. G. Simpson (Scottish Society). Tlie committee will meet again next Thursday evening to finalise arrangements.
