MATTER STILL UNSETTLED

(by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 7.

Anglican Bishops, who with the exception of the Bishop of Dunedin has been conferring here this week, had before them the election of a bishop tq the Maori diocese- of Aotearoa. The Maoris indicated that they still desired a Alaori as- a bishop and to this the conference would not agree. The Maoris then passed a resolution asking the General Synod to make provision for the Archbishop to be in charge, with a Alaori suffragon bishop. The matter i.s therefore deferred till.the next meeting of the General Synod, in April at Wellington.
