TO BE HELD IN HAWERA. ON THURSDAY NEXT. At a meeting of the executive of tlie Hawera Amateur Athletic Cluib held last evening, it was decided to hold a. “Rose Day” in Hawera on Thursday, for tlie ; purpose of raising funds towards the expenses of Randolph. Rose during his European tour. There were present’. Messrs A. Grant (chairman), R. Plank, .L. Hunt, G. M. MeCaskil'., and G. H. Weir. The secretary reported that he had received 2000 'badges from the West Coast Centre, and it was intended that a. badge should .be given to donors of one shilling or more. ' . It was decided that a collection should he taken .in the streets on Thursday, when badges would be distributed. It' was . also decided to continue the effort subject to the Hawera Trotting Club’s permission, at the trotting meeting to be held on Saturday. Volunteers for the selling of badges will be asked to report bo Mr G. H. Weir before Thursday, in order that complete arrangements may lie made for distribution. It is. understood that together with £2O received from Stratford, the Hawera Club lias in hand about £SO towards the fund, and it is hoiied that a'together £IOO will be raised.
