TENNIS.
TOURNAMENT IN HAWERA. The'Hawera Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club received notice from the Taranaki Lawn Tennis Association this morning that the New Zealand Association has' granted Saturday, Mondav and Tuesday, December 26, 28 and 29, for the Hawera Club’s open tennis tournament. The tournament will consist of both championship and handicap sections, with trophies in each department, and will include championships for boys and girls under the age of 18 years. As the dates granted are just before those for the Wanganui tournament, it seems reasonable to hope for a fanrepresentation of visiting competitors, while players in Taranaki are sure to rally to the support of the first tournament of its kind held in Hawera.
